The Sovereign God, My Only Refuge

“See now that I myself am he! There is no god besides me. I put to death and I bring to life, I have wounded and I will heal, and no one can deliver out of my hand(Deut. 32:39).”

In this world, there is nothing I can truly lean on. Money, which once seemed like a fortress, and fame, which felt like a shining crown, are all fleeting and vain, like mist disappearing in the wind. How foolish it is to cling to temporary things as if they were eternal. The ambition to stand at the center of the world and the impulse to seek justice through my own revenge are merely the powerless struggles of those who live without God.

The Lord declares, “There is no god besides me.” Truly, no one and nothing else can be my genuine resting place. The idols of this world produce only decaying fruit, but the Eternal God alone is the Master of life and death. He is the Sovereign who brings death and gives life, who wounds and heals. He alone is my refuge.

The Eternal God leads me not to fleeting glory, but to the place of eternal life. He is the one who vindicates me and prepares a table for me in the presence of my enemies. Therefore, I decide once again to walk the path of faith today, leaning only on Him rather than setting my heart on this shaking world. Even if my current position is lacking or weary, I will silently hold onto God’s hand and move toward eternity, step by step.
