“All the nations will ask: ‘Why has the Lord done this to this land? Why this fierce, burning anger? (Deut. 29:24)'”
The eyes of all nations were fixed upon Israel. The heathens watched closely as the Israelites experienced both overflowing blessings and agonizing curses, recognizing that none of it was by chance. Through the circumstances of Israel, the surrounding nations discovered the character and justice of God, eventually confessing that the outcomes were solely authored by His hand. Israel was, in essence, a vast exhibition demonstrating the reality of the living God.
This solemn spiritual principle flows through us as Christians today. Before the world opens the pages of the Bible, they first “read” the lives of those who believe. They learn about God’s nature by watching how we hold onto hope in suffering, how humble we remain in success, and how much integrity we display in our daily choices.
Therefore, a profound spiritual responsibility rests upon us as saints. We are ‘public figures of God’ standing on the stage of the world. Our words and actions can either be a stepping stone for someone to reach God or a stumbling block that shuts the door. Only when we live in obedience to His Word and practice His love can the world see the invisible love of God through the ‘visible channel’ of our lives.
Today, before the eyes of the world watching me, what kind of God am I reflecting? I hope that my life will not be a veil covering God’s glory, but a transparent window fully projecting His character and love. By taking steps of obedience in the place where I am called, I earnestly pray that my life becomes the most beautiful message of the Gospel ever told to someone.
