The Legacy of Faith

“After that whole generation had been gathered to their ancestors, another generation grew up who knew neither the Lord nor what he had done for Israel(Judg. 2:10).”

As long as Joshua and the elders of his time were alive, Israel served the Lord. However, as soon as that generation passed away, the next generation became a “different generation” that did not know God. They knew neither the existence of God nor the history of salvation He had performed. This was not merely a loss of information, but a severance of the spiritual legacy that should have been passed down as the people of the covenant.

The landscape of today is not much different. The younger generation mocks the church and considers a life of faith to be foolish. We often blame their spiritual indifference, but in reality, it is the result of our failure to truly show them the living God. A legacy of faith is transmitted through life, not words; through experience, not theory.

Our most urgent and vital mission today is to make God known to the next generation. Beyond simply teaching doctrines, we must testify to the living God working within our own lives. We must show them the joy of living according to God’s Word and the steadfast strength of walking the path of faith even amidst trials. We must fully pass on the legacy of faith so that the God our generation experienced becomes their God as well.

Today, I resolve once again to be a channel that reveals God through my life so that the next generation can become fellow travelers on the path of faith. I want to testify through my own actions how glorious it is to follow the path of faith. Since faith is a living breath to be lived out today, I seek to guide the next generation toward that path of life.
