“When you go to war against your enemies and see horses and chariots and an army greater than yours, do not be afraid of them, because the Lord your God, who brought you up out of Egypt, will be with you……. He shall say: “Hear, Israel: Today you are going into battle against your enemies. Do not be fainthearted or afraid; do not be terrified or give way to panic before them. For the Lord your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory(Dt. 20:1-4).”
The most important thing in life is discerning the will of God. That is why I have always yearned to know the heart of my Father. It was my top priority to seek His true heart toward me, toward others, and toward the tasks set before me.
However, I find that at some point, my earnestness in seeking His heart began to fade. Instead of asking for His heart first, I started looking at the reality and circumstances, and because of that, I hesitated whenever I stood at a crossroads. When I lost sight of the essence, the mist before me only grew thicker.
Today, I refocus my heart on the Father. What I must seek before seeking a direction is the Father’s heart. This is because His will is always found deep within His heart. I will now lay down the functional questions like, “Lord, where should I go and how should I get there?” Instead, I choose to ask: “Father, what are You feeling right now at this crossroads? What is Your heart concerning me, my family, and others?”
Sensing the heartbeat of the One who makes me walk the path is more important than merely finding the way. I earnestly hope that my soul will be filled with the Father’s heart today. I believe that when His heart overflows within me, the direction I must take will finally become clear.
