“The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged(Deut. 31:8).”
God always goes ahead of me. On every unfamiliar path I have yet to tread, He arrives first, preparing everything and waiting for me. The essence of faith is not in carving out my own way, but in silently following the faithful shadow of the Lord who is already opening the road ahead.
Yet, at times, a thick mist veils my eyes. When I am overwhelmed by stagnant circumstances, I lose sight of the God who leads the way. Although He is still there, preparing my future, my faith begins to tremble the moment my gaze is swept away by the waves of my environment. Through my painful weaknesses, I realize once again that keeping my eyes on God is the only ‘lifeline’ that sustains my existence.
Fear creeps in the moment I lose my focus, but even then, He never leaves me. The mist can never hide His power; it only disturbs my heart. Therefore, my confession today is firm and earnest. I do not want to let go of the hem of His garment for even a single second. I hope to see the lamp of His presence more clearly than the fog of my situation. In this shaking world, I desire to stand and walk, placing my footsteps exactly where His have been.
