“Jeshurun grew fat and kicked……(Deut. 32:15-35)”
God calls His people “Jeshurun.” This beautiful name, meaning “the upright one” or “the righteous one,” holds God’s deep expectations and hopes for us. Although the historical Israel grew arrogant in their abundance—kicking against God and scorning the Rock who created them—God still looks at them with a grieving heart, saying, “You are My people, Jeshurun, who ought to be righteous.”
God’s voice calling me today is the same. By believing in Jesus Christ, I have already obtained the status of being “righteous.” However, this is not because of anything I have done, but is merely a garment of grace bestowed upon me by God’s total mercy. Now, just like the name Jeshurun, I must surrender my thoughts and will, living a life of integrity and faithfulness before God. Since God has called me righteous, I resolve to walk the path of integrity and uprightness, following His expectations.
Today, once again, I set myself before God’s gaze. Seeking God’s righteousness above the temptations of the world and my own comfort, I desire to guard a life of integrity that is not ashamed of the voice that calls me “Jeshurun.” I earnestly pray that every step of my life becomes an honest song of praise that pleases the Lord.
