An Invitation to Blessing Behind the Curse

Cursed is anyone who does not uphold the words of this law by carrying them out.(Deut. 27:26)”

Today’s passage repeatedly and firmly proclaims curses upon those who do not follow the law. Standing before these fearsome declarations, I seek to understand God’s true heart. His stern warnings of judgment are not intended to destroy His people. Rather, they are a paradoxical expression of love—a call for them to turn away from sin and keep His Word so they may fully enjoy the blessings He has prepared. God is a Father who finds far greater joy in blessing His children than in punishing them.

Through the coming of Jesus Christ, we have been set free from the curse of the law. However, while we are no longer bound by legalism, the Word of God remains our absolute standard. We are now invited to a life of obedience—not to “earn” salvation, but to “live out” the salvation we have already received.

As the Apostle James warned that “faith without deeds is dead,” it is crucial to respond to the Word with active faith. Faith is not a mere abstract concept; it must be proven through our concrete choices in daily life.

Today, I reflect on whether my steps are aligned with God’s Word. Remembering His grace that turns warnings of judgment into promises of blessing, I hope to carry out His commands with joy. I pray that my life will be filled with the true blessings promised to those who walk in the path of faithful obedience.
